About Us

Come and see—worship, pray, and find belonging

Hope in the Desert is a parish where ancient worship meets real life. We gather to worship God, hear the Scriptures, receive the sacraments, ask honest questions, serve our neighbors, and grow together as followers of Jesus Christ. Whether you are new to church, returning after time away, or looking for a community of prayer and belonging, you are welcome here.

Our Beliefs

At Hope in the Desert, our faith is centered in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We seek to keep God at the heart of our common life, following Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, who is the head of the Church and the hope of the world.

We stand within the historic faith of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We receive the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God and believe that they contain all things necessary to salvation. We are shaped by the worship, prayer, sacraments, and teaching of the Church through the ages, and we confess the faith of the Church in the ancient creeds, including the Nicene Creed.

We believe that all who are baptized with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit are joined to Christ and made members of his Body, the Church.

We believe that God calls every person into communion with himself through Jesus Christ. In Christ, we are invited to turn from sin, receive the mercy of the Cross, share in the new life of the Resurrection, and live by the power of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in God’s people and forms us for worship, witness, and service.

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome at Hope in the Desert. We invite you to worship with us, grow in faith, and discover more deeply the love, hope, and healing of God in Jesus Christ.

A Few Friendly Faces

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
